That darn mind of ours. It seems to be the #1 obstacle keeping us from our goals.
No surprise.
It keeps us from getting done the things we say we want to do.
The question is really…What can we do about it?
What distinguishes thriving leaders (the person you want to be)?
You know, those men and women who just seem to have it all together. The ones we want to be like. The ones who seem to succeed no matter the circumstances.
The ones who have businesses that make money and do so easily (at least, so we think). At least, more easily than it feels like for us.
Here’s the answer.
The best leaders constantly ask questions and have the ability to face the most brutal answers. They can look failure squarely in the face—even their own failure—and yet, they maintain faith in their success in the end.
Jim Collins proved it in his book Good to Great. And if you look at the businesses you admire, at the leaders you’d like to become, you’ll see this attribute in everything they do.
Here rests the key to your success.
Ask the tough questions. Face the fierce answers. Learn from failure (it’s a gift, really, not a defeat). Make changes. Believe in your success.
Now try this on just to get this new way of thinking and acting rolling for you:
What is one question about your business you’ve been afraid to ask?
Face the answer. Learn and make a change. Start with something small. Then do it again. And again. And again. Until it’s a habit and one of the very best things about you as a leader.
And then you’ll get lots of stuff done. All the right stuff.
If you want some accountability, send me your question and your answers. We’re pretty good listeners.
